Verlies Niet de Moed (81 min.; directed by Hella de Jonge)
Hella de Jonge didn’t always get on with her 88-year-old father. When he had to move recently, she acquired the legacy of her great aunt, who survived the Nazi terror along with Hella’s parents. A publicity photo from 1885 of her great-grandfather as part of a comic duo then inspired Hella to investigate the history of her family. With the aid of photos and documents, a videotape of Hella’s mother’s testimony made as part of Steven Spielberg’s Shoa project, conversations and visits to places with painful memories, father and daughter have grown closer together.
