Sunscreen Film Festival West 2014 Official Selections: Narrative Shorts-Drama

"I KNOW YOU" (Dir. Colin Gerrard) -- Sometimes it doesn't matter who you are, it's who they think you are.

"REGIMEN" (Dir. Taylor Beck)

"B FLAT" (Dir. Mariana Youssef) -- A call from an old friend who is about to die brings Amar back to India 40 years after he left, in order to deliver a mysterious box.

"WILL-O'-THE-WISP" (Dir. Erik Morton)-- A young man in the midst of mourning the death of an old friend sees a vision of the deceased and tries to pursue her, only to come face to face with his own fate. This five-minute narrative short film is an examination of how we cope with grief and will strike a chord with anyone who has ever gone through the experience losing of a loved one.

"ENTANGLEMENT" (Dir. Douglas Wood) -- An independent living facility for the elderly is the unlikely setting for this comedy-drama about the explosive love triangle that develops when a 40-year-old man visits his estranged father and unexpectedly falls for the object of his aging dad’s affections-- a sexy senior citizen named Vera.

"APPLE, TREE" (Dir. John Clancy-Tone) -- Teenager Blue Sunday shows up at the farm of Arlene Haskil, an eccentric middle-aged woman, claiming to have a flat tire. However, Blue's visit is no accident; she wants to figure out Arlene's connection to her father, in the hope that this discovery will explain her parents' broken relationship. She initially blames Arlene for the latter but gradually discovers that the situation is more complicated. An unexpected twist in Blue's discovery helps the two of them find a piece of themselves they never knew they were missing.

"MOUSTACHE" (Dir. Carl Evans) -- Love at first sight with a dangerous beauty puts a young man's life at risk in this charming nod to classic Hollywood noir.

"THE STORY OF M" (Dir. Anna Arlanova) -- She smiles like Marilyn, she walks like Marilyn, she even dresses like Marilyn... A chance encounter at a second hand store - and the world of dreams is crushed by reality...

"NO MAN IS AN ISLAND" (Dir. Tracy Stegeman) -- John Dunne starts the day at the Doctor’s for a routine visit and walks out with a terminal diagnosis. He spends the next 24 hours trying to get his head around the idea of his own impending death.
