Narrative Shorts Block #7 - Thriller
"Sortie De Route" (dir. Crystal V. Lesser) -- What do a reluctant henchman and a nightclub singer have in common?
Few words are spoken between these two disillusioned characters, as they drive toward their destinies.
Words aren’t needed to describe what they already know awaits them at the end of their journey.
"Free Monkeys" (dir. Cenzig Akaygun) -- A successful manager gets taken and finds himself in an unknown surrounding.
"La Verifica Notturna" (dir. Ian Degrassi) -- It's night time and Claudio is sleeping deeply. Suddenly an inexplicable visit by his neighbour and a series of alarming phone calls interrupt his rest, announcing a mysterious house inspection that threatens to bring serious consequences...
"Beneath Water" (dir. Charlie Manton) -- On the first anniversary of a traumatic life changing event, 16 year old Daisy attempts to get through to her increasingly withdrawn mother. Is her only solace beneath water?
"Marie" (dir. Alfredo Tanaka) -- Marie is a classic beauty who longs for Robert, the one man she thinks she cannot have, and is willing to give up anything—even her identity—to elicit his affection. Marie and Robert are from two completely different worlds, but that doesn’t change the feelings Marie has always carried for Robert. Not content to simply be herself, she makes the ultimate decision to take desperate measures in order to gain Robert’s attention. Believing this lack of his reciprocation is due to her rank in social class, Marie makes an attempt to change who and what she is. However, she realizes all too late that acceptance of her own identity would do much more for her happiness than Robert would ever be able to.
"Zero" (dir. Chris/Robert Smellin) -- A young mother must come to terms with letting go the thing she loves the most, her only son. She must do the deed herself for he is subject zero, the undead...
"The Boogeyman" (dir. Mando Franco) -- One year after Lester Billings is accused to brutally murdering his 3 infant children, Lester visits renowned psychiatrist, Dr Harper. During the session, Harper is told the truth about the deaths of Lester's 3 children. With the clock ticking, Harper must determine if Lester really did kill his children, or if it was, as Lester puts it, The Boogeyman. But the truth is only the beginning of this nightmare.
"The Man from the City" (dir. Elias Plagianos) -- A mysterious businessman visits a small town with questionable intentions as he contemplates leaving his big city life behind. Starring SAG award winner Robert Clohessy ( Boardwalk Empire, Blue Bloods, Wolf of Wall Street ) and Sean Young ( Blade Runner, Ace Ventura, No Way Out)
"Franky and the Ant" (dir. Billy Hayes) -- Franky is a methodical, professional killer who believes that loyalty trumps all in this crime thriller ignited by betrayal and driven by vengeance.
