Narrative Shorts Block #5 Drama - Today Families

"Greece" (dir. Sarah Deakins) -- On a rainy afternoon in a British nursing home, a woman struggles to make a last connection with her seemingly catatonic mother.

"The Tablecloth" (dir. Youssef Lohlou) -- A tablecloth is here to hide all the table's imperfections and scratches. All you end up seeing is the beautiful cover but nothing underneath it. My short film is about a group of friends sharing life events around a meal. Events that have hidden secrets, secrets that we all keep to ourselves by fear to be jugged by society or our loved ones. Be ready to watch people's cover off and witness the character's real ''scratches'' and vulnerability.

"Matinee" (dir. Benjamin Eades) -- Alvina, an elderly theater owner gets ready to play her favorite film on the closing night of the theater to an empty audience, she relives her past and the day she met the man who changed her world forever. Falling in love together, Bill and Alvina experience the joys and difficulties of life while she discovers that you can’t always hold onto what is important, and sometimes, a new chapter in your life needs to be written.

"Coney Island Dreams" (dir. Andrew Serban) -- Desperate to return to her native Ireland, a disillusioned young woman seeks help from a shady older man who offers to pay her plane fare in exchange for one last job -- she must lure an unsuspecting iron worker to a deserted Coney Island street.

"Monkey with a Moustache" (dir. Chris Mammarelli) -- A broken hearted father tries to put the pieces of his life together by moving on...

"The Coin" (dir. Fabien Marorell) -- Kathryn Morris (Cold Case) portrays an indignant mother who radiates negativity onto her cherubic young son. She scolds him from the car and into a bodega, where she orders him to sit and wait on the cold concrete floor. The boy is saved by the presence of a homeless man (Christopher Lloyd). He utters words of wisdom and hands the kid a "magical quarter."

"A Man on the Edge" (dir. Edward Lyons) -- When a troubled man on a cliff top contemplates suicide he is interrupted by an unexpected stranger.

"The Story of Milo & Annie" (dir. Harris Doran) -- The Story of Milo & Annie is a love story about Annie, a restless secretary, who tries to discover the mystery of Milo, a guy who hasn't spoken since he was six years old. The cast includes Orange Is The New Black's Alysia Reiner and Academy Award Nominee Cathy Moriarty.

"Remembering the Fallen" (dir. Julien Grincajgier) -- A French veteran of World War II remembers a particular day of his life.
