Cinematography: Instructor Curtis Graham
Mondays 6-9PM (September 23, 30, October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4, 11)

This is an 8 week course with in depth training and hands on teaching.

Description:
The Red Camera and the Canon 5D will be used as the main cameras for this course. 
Upon completion of the course, students will learn the concept of literal versus figurative visual language and put it into practice and systematically develop skills in the following areas:
Light meter and exposure.
Lenses, focal length and aperture, along with a discussion on prime versus zoom lenses and position of lens.  Focal length of lens and aperture on the concepts of depth of field and select focus.
Lighting, the purpose of light and the four properties of light: angle, quality, quantity, and color. Shooting styles, i.e. conventional vs. unconventional.
This will be a hands on course with much of the time devoted to planning, setting up, shooting and analyzing shots in a fully equipped studio with detailed Red Camera instruction.

 

Instructor Bio:

Curtis is an Award Winning Director and Cinematographer.  He has won many accolades for his work including an Emmy and an Academy Award.  His work has appeared in many national publications, i.e. Town & Country, Esquire, Print, and Communication Arts.

His career in Advertising led to doing Commercials for his Clients as a Director/Cameraman. Curtis went on to Attend The American Film Institute. At AFI Curtis received the Mary Pickford Award Scholarship. His Master Thesis film the “The Blue Men” starring Estelle Parsons went on to receive a Student Emmy and Academy Award. It is listed as one of the most award winning shorts of 1990. Curtis also received the Focus Award for Cinematography for “The Blue Men”.

Curtis Graham’s Narrative and Feature Resume is as varied as his illustrate career.  From films “Glass Window”,“Father Eddy”, “ Misconceptions”, and “Prime of your Life”, “Troubadour” to the PBS Documentary “John & Mable Ringling”, to 100s of Commercials for advertising clients around the world. Curtis has created a diverse body of work as Director/DP.

Curtis obtained his Master of Cinematography from AFI.  He is an adjunct professor teaching at the University of Tampa.  He continues to Direct and Shoot Films and Commercials under his Production Co. GreyHouse Films.
