Animation Shorts Block 1

Animated Short block 1 (Studio 620) - 5:30-7:30pm

"Blue" (8 min.; directed by Asia Lancaster, Katelyn Bianchini, and Rena Cheng) -- A fearful balloon must learn to put his fragile life in the hands of an unlikely friend.

"Wind" (4 min.; directed by Robert Lobel) -- People living in a windy area helplessly exposed to the weather create ways to deal with these seemingly difficult conditions.

"The Missing Scarf" (7 min.; directed by Eoin Duffy) -- A black comedy exploring some of life’s common fears: fear of the unknown, of failure, of rejection, and finally, the fear of death. Narrated by George Takei.

"One Night in Florida" (1 min.; directed by Tess Martin) -- A rollicking journey through President Obama’s July 2013 speech, in which he addressed the outrage caused by the trial of George Zimmerman.

"My Cat Is Evil" (3 min.; directed by Cynthia Hogan) -- A cat uses his owner’s addiction to media to gain attention.

"Une Balade a la Mer" ("A Ride Towards the Sea") (4 min.; directed by Damien Stein) -- A small character decides to face the city and nature to free his goldfish. But every person and every element he crosses could be violent to him.

"Monkey Rag" (4 min.; directed by Joana Davidovich) -- A bouncy, animated romp set to a rollicking tune by the Asylum Street Spankers.

"Green Acres" (6 min.; directed by James Beck) -- A parched tortoise wanders through a vast desert desperately in search of water. When he finds an oasis where trespassers are unwelcome, he must slip past the defenses to quench his thirst.

"Sebastian" (19 min.; directed by Vlad Marsavin) -- An 8-year old boy who lives with his grandmother in an ordinary, monochrome world finds his city transformed and begins an adventure into his imagination when he goes for a bike ride.
